The 5840P-001 is the first Grand Complication in the Cubitus collection — a reference that marks the definitive elevation of Patek Philippe's square-cushion family introduced in 2023 from sports-luxury into the highest tier of the manufacture's complication hierarchy. The square-form caliber 28-28 Q SQU was engineered specifically for the Cubitus case architecture, its 28.5×28.5mm footprint matching the geometry of the openworked dial above it, so that the horizontal laser-cut strips of the blue sunburst dial align visually with the exposed bridges and mainplate beneath. This structural dialogue between dial and movement is the design's defining achievement — the skeleton treatment is not decorative overlay but a genuine window into a movement engineered to be observed through the dial plane. The baguette-cut diamond at six o'clock and the rhodium-plated micro-rotor engraved with matching horizontal lines and a blue Calatrava cross confirm the depth of finishing investment.
The 45mm diagonal platinum case carries contrasting polished and satin surfaces, a screw-down crown, and a baguette-cut diamond at six o'clock. The sunburst blue openworked dial presents horizontally laser-cut strips revealing the square skeletonized movement, with white gold applied baton hour markers, white gold rounded baton hands, snailed subsidiary counters for day, date, month and 24-hour indication by hands, and a high-definition metallized laser-engraved moon phase. A navy blue composite fabric strap with cream stitching and platinum fold-over clasp completes the reference.
