History
Rolex’s earliest ladies’ cocktail watches, which are often referred to as jewellery watches, first appeared in the 1920s and 1930s. By the late 1940s, Rolex introduced the “Precision” designation, marking a new standard of accuracy and craftsmanship. This watch is a fine example from that transitional period, making it one of the earlier pieces associated with the Precision line.
While many cocktail watches seen today originate from the “golden era” of the late 1950s and 1960s, characterised by larger cases and more elaborate bracelet designs, earlier examples such as this are significantly rarer and their design offer a glimpse into the evolution of Rolex’s ladies’ watchmaking.
Dial - The beautiful off-white satin dial with gold markers and hands has been extremely well preserved and remains remarkably in near-mint condition with only light sins of age, which are visible under magnification.
Case - The solid 18ct case is in fantastic shape for a watch of this age and shows just light signs of wear.
Crown - The large and easy to operate original, Rolex signed crown works perfectly in all of its functions and remains in remarkable condition as the rest of the watch.
Movement - The watch encases its original Rolex manual wind movement which is working flawlessly and keeping excellent time.
Case back - The original case back shows light signs of wear, still displaying the Rolex stamp and serial number clearly.
Strap - This piece has an amazing original solid 9ct gold Rolex strap which is in fantastic condition! It shows only light wear.
