Santos-Dumont watch, large model, Manufacture mechanical movement with manual winding, calibre 430 MC. Steel case with black lacquer, steel beaded crown set with a blue synthetic spinel cabochon, black square decoration dial with translucent lacquer, Roman numerals, steel sword-shaped hands, sapphire crystal. Case back engraved with the handwritten signature of Alberto Santos-Dumont. Black alligator-skin strap, steel ardillon buckle. Case dimensions: 43.5 mm x 31.4 mm, thickness: 7.3 mm. Water-resistant up to 3 bar (approx. 30 metres).
About the Collection
1904. Louis Cartier granted the wish of his friend, the famous Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont: to be able to tell the time while flying. This was the birth of one of the first ever wristwatches. Featuring a geometric shape and exposed screws, the watch quickly became one of the Maison's watchmaking icons. The Santos rose to the ranks of a classic that would defy the hands of time.
